Lithuania announced an exit from an agreement to ban anti -personnel

Lithuania has officially informed the UN of removal of the OTTAV Convention in ban on anti -Personnel mines. On Friday, June 27, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kicentutis Budris said on Social Network X.

He emphasized that “this decision is not easy to make.” However, Lithuania “has no illusions that Russia is a long -term existing threat to Europe.” In these circumstances, the Baltic State “uses every way to protect people and every inch of NATO territory.”

Budris added that Vilnius remains focused on the principle of responsible defense and international human human, including civil defense.

Earlier, Latvia and Finland decided to withdraw from the Ottav Convention.
