Exit from the Ottav Convention is a major issue for Poland security, National Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh said.
Poland SEJM has supported the exit bill from the OTTAV Convention, which prohibits the use of anti -personnel Mines. For this decision, 413 representatives voted on Wednesday, 15 against it, three avoided, RMF24 reports.
Before voting, National Defense Minister Vladislav Kosineak-Kamysh said this step was very important for regional security. He recalled that the initiative retreating from the convention was supported not only by Poland, but also by Baltic and Finland countries.
“Poland cannot be limited by policies that interfere with our country’s protection,” the minister said.
The OTTAV Convention was adopted on September 18, 1997 in Oslo and entered in 1999. Poland signed this document in 1997, but was only in 2012. The convention prohibits the use and spread of anti -Personnel Mines and demands their destruction. In general, more than 160 countries joined it, including most states in the west. Among the countries that do not participate in the contract, there is China, Russia, USA, India and Pakistan.
Earlier, the Baltic and Finland countries decided to remove from the OTTAV Convention.
And in March it was learned that Poland plans to put anti -personnel Mines on boundaries along with Russia and Belarus as part of the Eastern Shield Project.
