Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace is a leading Norwegian weapon manufacturer, including NASAMS ANTI -PARCRAFT missile systems that already protect Ukrainian cities from Russian missiles and drones. In cooperation with Congsberg, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is focused on the development of joint projects in the field of air defense. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported this on Facebook.
According to the Minister of Defense Rastima Umarov, we are preparing new solutions based on NASAM to increase the protection of the population and critical infrastructure.
According to him, air defense is one of the strategic priorities of Ukraine. Ukraine is currently working on the scaling of production and acceleration of the supply of anti -Smissive systems.
The opening of the office is the next step in developing a partnership between Ukraine, Norway and Congsberg. Together we will implement projects in the field of interceptors, strengthening air defense and defense of the sea – areas where Congsberg is a world leader, he said.
Umarov added that in June only Russia made more than 3 thousand 500 launching missiles and drones.
We recall that in February it was reported that the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace plans to open an enterprise for the production of ammunition for NASAMS anti-air missile systems in Ukraine. It is planned to create a joint Ukrainian Norwegian plant, the corresponding negotiations are already ongoing.
