Natural population growth in Canada is negative – more people died in the country than born.
Canadian population growth in the first quarter of 2025 reached one of the lowest indicators in more than half a century. This has been proven by the data of the Statistical Bureau of Canada.
From January to April, the Canadian population rose by 20 107 people, that is, less than 0.05% of the country’s total population.
It has been noted that the second slowest growth of the quarterly population in Canada since the beginning of comparable dimensions in the first quarter of 1946. Slower, the Canadian population grew only in the third quarter of 2020, amid Covid-19 Pandemya.
Despite the fact that since last year, the transition to Canada has been declining rapidly, the increase in the total population in this year’s first quarter has been provided exclusively by migrants.
The natural increase (the birth of the minus of death) is negative (-5628), that is, more people died in the country than being born.
Currently, the Canadian population is 41,548,787 people.
