In the west of Poland, the farmer found an ancient figure, identified by archaeologists as a neolithic image of the goddess of fertility.
In Poland, the farmer was accidentally stabbed in an unusual found – a lime figure made about 6 thousand years ago.
According to the art newspaper, experts have reviewed it for more than a year before confirming the authenticity and establishment of the source.
According to archaeologist Marcin Kshepkovsky, the discovery was a complete surprise: “Sometimes the wonderful discoveries happen by chance. It took us a lot of time to confirm the authenticity of the figure.”
A figure 12 cm high was called Venus kolobzhegskaya, as it was found near the city of Kolobzheg. Such numbers describe female forms with an emphasis on the chest and hips and are considered symbols of fertility – worship of goddess Venus.
The president of the local group of amateur historians, Jan Orlinsky mentioned: “Together with other researchers, we defined that it was something that was done by a human hand, and, most likely, a symbol of Venus, the goddess of fertility.”
The artifact was dated by the Neolithic period – it was probably created by the first farmers who repaired Western Pomerania. The found was planned to display weapons in the Poland Museum as one of the oldest exhibits.
They emphasize the museum: in Poland they have not found such figurines. However, the most ancient in Europe remains venus from the hole fels, which was discovered in Germany in 2008 – its age was approximately 40 thousand years.
Earlier it was reported that archaeologists discovered the significant remains of the ancient Roman City of the Metlozedum, which is now under the modern Meel in France.
