New armor -pupports from Ukraine will continue to receive help for citizens (Bürgergeld).
The Federal Minister of Labor Berbel Bass stated this on June 17, writes Amal Berlin. The amount of payments will remain unchanged, “until we find a new solution,” the government emphasized.
Earlier, in an agreement on the CDU/CSU and SPD coalition, they intend to appoint a lower social assistance to the newly arrived Ukrainians – at the level of refuge petitions from other countries.
In addition, BAS said that the recipients of payments will be more punished for missing meetings in the center of work – a decrease in financial assistance by 10%. In addition, people who can work and repeatedly refuse reasonable work will be completely deprived of payments.
The amount of this help depends on the family status:
-
563 euros – for people living independently, for lonely parents.
-
506 euros – for each of the spouses.
-
451 euros – for young people aged 18 to 24 years without a family.
-
471 euros – for adolescents aged 14-17 years.
-
390 euros – for children from 6 to 13 years old.
-
357 euros for children under 5 years old.
Changes in 2025 were supposed to relate to recently arrived Ukrainians who, from April 1, 2025, could receive help in accordance with the law for help looking for asylum, not Burgheld.
In addition, in Germany in 2025, for those who refuse to be proposed without good reason, payments were reduced by 30% by three months. Those who miss the employment center will also lose 30% of payments, but within one month. Previously, the soft sanction was 10%in the form of a decrease.
The government reduced support for those who are engaged in illegal work. If a person falls into a hidden job, in addition to punishment for social fraud, his payments under the Bürgergeld program will be reduced by 30%, and this decrease will be effectively within three months.
The old rules have returned to the assets: social payments are now allowed to maintain accumulated assets for only six months, not a year. In this case, the following is used: before accepting Burgeld again, you need to spend an amount exceeding 40,000 euros.
To stimulate long -term work, the government introduced a disposable bonus in the amount of 1000 euros. However, this is not enough. It will be obtained by those who find official work and will work for at least a year. To get a bonus, you need to have work on social insurance, which will allow you to completely cover your needs without additional help with Burgeld.
It is expected that from now on the recipients of Burgeld will consider vacancies at a greater distance from the house. The most acceptable time on the road to work and vice versa increases to three hours. This means that the employment center can offer work within a radius up to 50 km from the place of residence. Exceptions to people who care about relatives or care about young children.
From September 1, 2025, integration internship was presented to help refugees find a job. During this period, refugees can take a free internship of 4 to 12 weeks (in some cases up to 16 weeks) in companies that allow them to acquire professional skills and experience.
Since July 2025, a new initiative has been introduced in Germany, which allows employees to be at the risk of reorganization or economic difficulties in order to undergo four weeks of internship with another employer.
In other words, if a person is at risk of dismissal, he will be able to work in a new company for four weeks, receiving a salary from his current employer. This approach allows you to find a new job without a loss of income, and the new employer will evaluate the skills and potential for further employment.
