The European Union continues to condemn the illegal fusion of Crimea and Sevastopol of Russia, emphasizing the EU council.
The Rada of the European Union extends to June 23, 2026 penalties for Russia’s illegal fusion of Crimea and Sevastopol City. This was reported by the EU Council’s press service.
Penalties include:
-
a prohibition on importing products derived from the illegally combined by Crimea or Sevastopol in the EU;
-
a ban on the infrastructure or financial investment and the provision of travel services to Crimea and Sevastopol;
-
Restrictions on exporting certain goods and technologies of Crimean companies or for use in Crimea – especially in the field of transportation, telecommunication, energy, as well as for exploration, oil, gas and mineral labor.
“The EU has not recognized and continues to condemn the illegal fusion of Crimea and Russia’s Sevastopol in violation of international law,” the EU council emphasized.
Penalties in the EU for Crimea integration were first introduced in June 2014 and expanded each year.
As we have already written, the next 18 packages of the European Union penalties against Russia will affect its leading economic sector – energy, banking sector and critical export.
