The EU continued sanctions for the annexation of Russia Crimea for a year – until June 23, 2026.
In particular, this is about:
-
A ban on imports with the EU illegally annexed by Crimea or Sevastopol;
-
A ban on infrastructure or financial investments and the provision of travel services in Crimea and Sevastopol;
-
A ban on the export of certain goods and technologies by Crimean companies or use in Crimea.
The restrictions are also associated with the supply of equipment for the exploration and production of oil and gas, gas and mineral resources.
EU sanctions were first introduced in June 2014 in response to the occupation of Crimea.
