The FSB recruited almost a thousand agents in Ukraine, the GRU formed a parallel network of agents, consisting of up to 300 agents.
The leading investigator of the Bellingcat group, Hristo Grozev, said that about 120 officers from the fifth service of the FSB and up to 40 from the GRU worked against Ukraine, but their forecasts turned out to be an illusion and the special that service is losing the trust of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Grozev said this in a comment on LIGA.net.
According to him, the scale of FSB recruitment is “industrial”: more than 120 officers recruit and supervise agents. If each of them is “led” by 5-10 agents, then “it can be assumed that more than 1,000 Ukrainian agents of influence are registered in the fifth service.”
On the basis of these relations, the fifth service of the FSB wrote a strategy for Putin about the seizure of power from within, about the necessity and adequacy of a military invasion in the blitzkrieg format: they also report about the instability of political power and the increase in protest moods in Ukraine and the readiness of a significant part of society to accept or at least come to terms with the new government brought from Moscow.
Grozev also noted that the GRU is forming a parallel network of agents.
“There were up to 40 people in the GRU who worked exclusively at the Ukrainian direction,” Grozev believes. “But there is no such clear division of labor as in the FSB, and they are transferred from one project to another while there are urgent tasks. For example, the department 29155 – about 50 people who previously contacted in sabotage and murders in Europe is now only in Ukraine. Probably, the same in other departments.”
Grozev clarified that there were up to 100-300 agents under the GRU.
“At the beginning of the war, most of these agents of influence did not work directly with their handlers,” he said.
Grozev talks about the case when the GRU kidnapped and killed in the Russian Federation at a military training ground in Senezh near Moscow its renegade agent from the SBU – and to the public, so that rumors about the execution spread and served warning others. . Grozev did not name this agent.
“Regarding the Foreign Intelligence Service, I don’t have any details, but their role in the inadequate forecasting of the reaction to the invasion of the world community can certainly be decided … There is an indication that trust in Naryshkin has been lost,” the investigator is sure .
According to him, the process of Putin’s loss of confidence in the fifth service of the FSB is irreversible, and their role is now limited. The GRU had no such information gap, as “their role has increased in recent months.”
Remember, in April, Grozev said that Russia has enough resources to fight until the end of the year, but the social unrest in Russian society can prevent it.
