Swiss intelligence officers (NDB) cooperated with Russian agents for many years. Russian intelligence services can receive “confidential” data. This is indicated in the SRF Sperialigativ investigation.
In the center of the next espionage scandal was the NDB cyber Protection, whose employee has long contacted Kaspersky in Moscow.
The SRF Investigativ investigation showed that the Swiss reaction to these contacts appeared only after the friendly foreign intelligence agencies announced the possible termination of cooperation with Swiss colleagues.
From the official statement of the Federal Intelligence Service (NDB), Switzerland follows that one of the NDB employees transmitted important information using secret communication channels to the Kaspersky office. Information regarding “classified data” about Russian intelligence officers in the Hague in March 2018. This is indicated in the secret report of the NDB commission with reference to information from a friendly foreign special service.
This intelligence warned Switzerland: the information that poses a threat to people’s lives was at the disposal of military intelligence of Russia and, possibly, FSB.
In March 2018, the former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter were poisoned in the British city of Salisbury. In the spring of the same year, Russian intelligence officers are probably related to these events, they were detained in the Netherlands.
Since the analysis of the toxic substance, which was poisoned by violin, was carried out in the Swiss laboratory of radiological and bacteriological analysis in the city of Spits (Labor Spiez, Canton Bern), Swiss Intelligence has also participated in this study.
According to the NDB secret report, the Federal Swiss Intelligence answered colleagues only in December 2020, that is, more than two years after the first warning.
Employee V. was first transferred to remote work, and then he left a special service. In the spring of 2021, NDB initiated an internal investigation.
At the same time, there were many contradictions related to its release. A walk with NDB in Bern, V. took with him a personal laptop. He returned it only in March 2021 – in more than three months – in the reinstalled form, referring to the availability of personal information on the device.
Where and how secret data were used during the year is unknown.
