During the five months of the full-scale war in Ukraine, at least 18 doctors have died, and more than 50 have been injured. This was reported in the press center of the Ministry of Health.
“Five months of resistance to Russia’s massive aggression, 150 days of resistance, invincible on the road to victory. Since February 24, the terrorist country has killed at least 18 medical workers, and more than 50 have been injured,” the report said.
Despite the deliberate destruction of the medical infrastructure, the health care system is functioning and being modified in accordance with the needs that have arisen during the war. These include fundraising under the UNITED24 initiative, work on the creation of the National Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Program initiated by the First Lady, work within displaced doctors, medical evacuation of patients abroad, and improvement of the rehabilitation system in Ukraine.
About four evacuation flights are conducted weekly for the treatment of Ukrainians abroad. Currently, 17 states accept Ukrainian patients in the best specialized clinics. In addition, 17 medical convoys were conducted to transport children with oncological diseases for treatment abroad. In total, 1,274 Ukrainians were sent abroad for treatment.
