Vladimir Putin suddenly decided to send his armada to the Baltic Sea for the workouts – one month earlier than ever before.
NATO and Russia’s countries will conduct exercises in the Baltic Sea at the same time. There is a threat of provocations, BILD reports on Saturday, May 31.
It is indicated that next week NATO will begin their traditional naval exercises of Baltops. They will be held in early June for more than 50 years.
“But at this time the alliance of the alliance is not one. Vladimir Putin also sends his armada to exercises – a month earlier than ever before. They will participate in 20 Russian ships. Fleets can be dangerous closely,” the article said.
The senior researcher at Cassis (The Analytical Center of the University of Bonn), as well as a German Navy Reserve official, Moritz believes that “what’s going on in the Baltic Sea, always carries the risk of developing a more chronic increase.”
He does not think Russia will attack during the exercises, but will not exclude provocations. For example, the Russian armade may hinder the path of NATO ships and stop them, and Russian planes can deliberately fly alliance ships.
“We’re talking about trial watching: How fast does NATO react?”, Said the expert.
The head of the department of strategy and security at sea at the University of Kile, Johannes Peters, believes that Russia in this way shows strength:
“We see that Russia is trying to strengthen its potential intimidation in the Baltic Sea,” he said, adding that maneuvers are used for recruitment, which, however, is legitimate.
Keep in mind that in September, the Belarus-Russian teachings of the West-2025 were held in Belarus. In Minsk, they said they would be reduced to a scale and “moved” from the NATO boundaries and moved deep into the country. But because of these maneuvers, risk can increase on the Ukraine border.
