The Government of Ukraine approved negotiations on joining the European Union with two clusters.
Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the negotiation position of Ukraine in the first cluster “Fundamentals of the process of joining the EU.” The document has already been submitted to the European Commission. And on May 30, the government examined and approved the negotiation positions on the second cluster “Inland market” and the sixth “external relations”. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Schmigal announced this at today’s state meeting.
According to him, the second cluster covers important areas of the functioning of one EU market: free movement of goods, services, labor and capital, as well as the rules of competition and protection of consumer rights.
And the sixth cluster determines the role of Ukraine in general foreign policy, security and the protection of the European Union, which includes, among other things, our country’s contribution to Europe stability and the protection of the continent from the Russian threat.
Schmigal emphasized that in June the European commission plans to open negotiations with the first cluster in June.
We quickly passed the distance from the application for membership in the European Union before the start of accurate negotiations. The ambitious goal for 2025 is to open on a parallel basis all six negotiation clusters with the EU, ”said the Prime Minister.
We recall that experts said that Ukrainian agriculture may become a problem in the process of European integration, because from June 6 of this year, a temporary duty regime for Ukrainian exports will be completed.
