Europol noted full confidence in Ukraine, because it is implementing new measures to monitor and trace firearms.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Europol has warned that the proliferation of firearms and explosives in Ukraine could lead to an increase in illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition into the EU through established smuggling routes or online platforms. This threat may even increase after the end of the conflict, the organization said.
The organization stressed that Ukraine continues to follow the instructions and cooperate on matters of interest to the internal security of the EU.
On July 21, Europol said it had evidence of arms smuggling from Ukraine. Spokesman Jan Op Gen Oort said that small arms are being exported from Ukraine, and investigators from EU member states have data on the trade in heavy weapons.
On July 22, NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov commented that Ukraine was expecting a substantive conversation with Europol. Danilov clarified that the publication of the “arms smuggling” in the Western media coincides with the start of Russia’s large-scale information special operation MakZim, which discredits Ukraine. The main goal of the campaign is to stop the supply of weapons from the allies.
