The Ukrainian language can be taught in Poland schools at the parents’ initiative, including the teacher and with the administration’s permission.
Poland supports the teaching of Ukrainian language as a second foreign language in local schools. The possibility of its introduction depends on the initiative of the parents, the presence of a teacher and the coordination of institutional administration. It has been known based on the results of the Oksen Lisovoy Education Minister Meeting with the National Education Minister of the Republic of Poland Barbara Novakskaya.
The meeting took place last week in Warsaw as part of the working visit to the Ukrainian delegation.
It is noted that in the Poland Law framework, schools may introduce Ukrainian language teaching under the following conditions:
- At the initiative of the parents who can write an appropriate appeal to the Polish School administration (In case of difficulties, you can inform the Ukraine embassy in the Republic of Poland by reference);
-
If there is a chance of staff, that is, a Ukrainian language teacher, which can be used, and a group of students are also formed;
-
By agreement with the school -instrumental and with the permission of the governing body.
The department has assured that the development of programs for teaching Ukrainian language as a second foreigner in Poland schools is ongoing.
In addition, Poland schools provide a number of support forms that can be used by Ukrainian students:
-
additional free polish language classes;
-
Additional classes on a particular topic;
-
Training in the preparation department;
-
the help of an assistant teacher who knows the language of the country of origin;
-
The help of an intercultural assistant.
The Polish side also said it would consider the possibility of introducing the Ukrainian language to the list of languages that could be selected for the passage of the “eighth grader” test -it was ordered to go to the next level of secondary education.
This issue may be considered in the framework of Poland School’s Planned Education Reform for 2026-2027.
Earlier it was reported that MON was talking to international partners about the introduction of the Ukrainian language as a foreigner in other countries’ schools.
Remember that Verkhovna Rada recently recognized the learning results received by Ukraine citizens abroad.
In Turkish schools, they will study the Ukrainian language
