The European Union approved the security strategy for the Black Sea.
On Wednesday, May 28, the European Union approved the “strategic approach of the European Union to the Black Sea region.” In particular, this, in particular, counteracts threats from the aggressor of the country of the Russian Federation and environmental protection. This was reported by the Supreme EU representative Kai Callas.
According to RFE/RL, this document provides for the creation of a marine security center, improving military mobility and counteraction to hybrid threats. More close cooperation with Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Armenia is expected.
It is noted that Türkiye has already proposed to lead the initiative – to guarantee safe navigation in the Black Sea in order to counteract the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation and, possibly, mine.
It is currently known that the Marine Center will be marine situational awareness, monitoring, early warnings of threats and malicious actions. The hub will be concentrated on underwater cables, sea installations, as well as on gas and wind production off the coast of Romania and Bulgaria.
We recall that the Baltic countries and the North Sea will begin to check the status of tankers insurance that carry Russian oil from the ports of the Baltic Sea. They intend to inspect tankers that carry millions of barrels of Russian oil around the world, demanding that these vessels are protected from oil spills.
