Technology is ready for industrial implementation, according to trials.
Researchers from the University of Science and Technology Pohan (South Korea) have shown the first OLED display worldwide with a localized pixel level, where each pixel also conducts a dynamics, reportcheck report.
The team of researchers built an ultra-thin piezoelectric emitters under OLED display layers. These devices convert electrical signals to local vibrations, giving the sound to continue from a specific screen area. Thanks to the separation of the emitters, the sound from a pixel is not superimposed on the neighboring, which completely removes acoustic disruption-the problem chasing the previous concepts of dynamic screens.
The shown prototype has a diagonal of 13 inches – the size of a regular tablet or laptop.
Unlike previous hybrids of appearances and speakers, the new OLED panel will not increase the thickness of the device, which is important for gadgets where a thin profile is valued. A successful display of a 13-inch display opens the way it integrates with tablets, laptops or car dashboard without changing the form factor.
During long -term trials, the system maintains a stable level of sound pressure with a change of voltage and listening distance, indicating technology readiness for industry implementation.
So far, the team has not announced the terms of commercialization or the estimated cost of freshness.
We remind you, earlier that the LG display was the first in the world to comment on OLED dreams.
