Finland begins medical evacuation and treatment of patients from Ukraine. This was announced on Friday, July 22, by the country’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Yle wrote.
It is reported that the transportation of patients is carried out through the EU civil protection mechanism, where assistance has been provided to more than 700 Ukrainian patients.
The publication notes that only a few of those who suffered in Ukraine from the Russian invasion have so far been delivered to hospitals in Finland.
According to Krista Luyur, a specialist at the Finnish Ministry of Welfare and Health, the country’s capabilities are limited due to the difficult situation in the health care system, which is caused, in particular, by the lack of workers.
The decision on the transportation of patients was made in cooperation between Ukraine and the EU countries. In Finland, the ministry and the health districts jointly evaluate the possibility of receiving patients.
Details of the transfer of patients are not disclosed to ensure the safety and confidentiality of the operations.
It will be remembered that some of the victims from Vinnitsa as a result of the Russian missile attack were sent to Europe for treatment.
Finland has strengthened border security with the Russian Federation.
