On July 22, the Syrian media reported on an Israeli missile strike from the Golan Heights. The Defense Army hit the Al-Maza military airport near Damascus.
According to the monitoring group The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), three Syrian soldiers, three foreigners and two representatives of the Lebanese Hezbollah were killed.
SOHR clarifies that the IDF attacked the Syrian Air Force intelligence offices, the car of a high-ranking official in the Al-Maza area, the checkpoint near the military airport, the road near Al-Maza and the composition of Iranian weapons.
The Syrian opposition publication Orient News separately reported that the Israeli military had destroyed a factory producing drones and Iranian fighters near it.
Some Ukrainian media wrote that the Shahid-191 and Shahid-129 drones, which Russia had probably requested for the war in Ukraine, were assembled on the destroyed train. SOHR and the Syrian media did not mention Shahid and Russia at all. The Jerusalem Post writes that the drones in the warehouse were most likely assigned to Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.
Moscow planned to buy Iranian drones to strengthen its air fleet in the war against Ukraine. Probably now the plans will have to be adjusted somewhat.
