The leaders of France, Germany and Poland – Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Mertz and Donald Tusk – condemned the actions of the Georgia government, which led to “democratic regression” in a joint appeal to the owners on the occasion of Independence Day. This is stated in a joint statement by the leaders, the vast French embassy on Monday, May 26th.
“We support the democratic and European goals of the Georgia people. These goals reflect the desire of Georgia people to become part of the European family. We condemned all actions of Georgia’s authorities that lead to democratic regression and attack on civil society, media and people who criticize the government,” statement.
The appeal was also called by Georgia’s authorities to continue the dialogue with the opposition and civil society.
