The absence of Azov among the military personnel issued by captives was commented on the headquarters of the coordination of prisoners of war.
The process from 1000 to 1000 was based on “mutual lists”, and it was the Russian side that determined who she was ready to transfer to Ukraine, and the Ukrainian side formed its list. This was stated on May 25 by Deputy Chairman of the Coordinating Headquarters Andriy Yusov, reports Public.
Ukraine is fighting for every citizen. Ukraine works very much in difficult conditions for a complete invasion, and the Marison garrison is one of the priority areas of return, ”he said.
Yusov also recalled that since 2014, the Russian Federation systematically ignores requests for the exchange of certain categories of prisoners or openly refuses, saying that “these are not prisoners of war, and they cannot be returned as part of the exchange.”
Recall that the three-day exchange “from 1000 to 1000” was the sixth exchange of this year and the 65th since the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion.
At the first stage, 390 people were freed from Russian captivity. On the second day of the great exchange, Ukraine returned 307 soldiers. And today, May 25, 303 defenders returned home.
However, according to the commander of the 1st corps of the Azov National Guard Denis Prokopenko, not a single military from the 12th brigade of the special purpose of Azov was returned home as part of this exchange. He emphasized that more than 800 Azov are in Russian captivity in the fourth year.
