The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine was fired by the Director General of the National Reserve Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Maxim Ostapenko. He announced it on Facebook eve and published a picture of the order.
“This day should be different. As we prepared a large exhibition at Laurel, I received the news, which was a surprise by Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, fired me from the post of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra’s national reserve leader.
According to Ostapenko, in recent weeks, rumors have spread about the “backstage struggle for Lavra control.”
“We felt pressure. Obviously, there was someone uncomfortable from what we said aloud about the need to clean up the laurels from the Imperial accounts. Something interfered with the truth. To someone-our principles,” he added.
