The head of the Netherlands government, who receives the summit this year, and the Alliance Secretary General “wants to invite Zelensky.”
In June, the NATO Summit was held in The Hague, but its organizers still could not tell if Ukraine invited her. On Wednesday, May 22, NATO secretary General Mark Rutte and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Scheof held a joint meeting, Ukrinform reports.
Both officials called on journalists to “wait a little” with the answer to the question of whether Vladimir Zelensky was invited to the Alliance Summit.
The head of government of the Netherlands has mentioned that with the NATO general secretary, they “want to invite Zelensky.”
At the same time, Rutta explained that the summit program is not yet final. “Once we publish the program – you’ll know about everything,” he assured.
According to Rutta, among the major topics of the future summit, the issue of increasing the compulsory military costs of NATO countries from current 2% of GDP (this level has reached 23 of 32 foreign members) up to 5%.
As you know, the summit will be held on June 24 and 25 at the World Forum in The Hague. The cost is almost double due to safety.
Earlier it was reported that the Netherlands said they wanted to see as a Zelensky guest, but the United States opposed it. In Washington, they rejected it.
