The killing of Portnov. What is the politician known

In 2009, Portnov became a member of Ukraine’s Supreme Council of Justice.

After Viktor Yanukovych’s victory in the 2010 election, Andrei Portnov, at that time the deputy head of the Rada Bet faction, moved to his team and became a representative of the head of the Yanukovych administration. In January 2020, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv, who admitted that Andrei Portnov, decided to live in the last five years in Ukraine.

US punishment

At the same time, Portnov has been under the US penalties since 2021. The American Ministry of Finance explained the corresponding decision by the fact that in 2019 he “cultivated extensive linking to the judicial and law enforcement of Ukraine by bribery”. And, in addition, “he is justified in the use of influence on the court’s decisions in Ukraine, he wants to gain control of the justice system, seeking to appoint people loyal to him in the highest judicial posts, and also the judges.

For the second time, Portno fled from Ukraine after the start of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation. According to the draft scheme: corruption in details, he left on June 3, 2022 through the Transcarpathian region. Since then he has lived overseas, especially in Spain.

In recent years, many criminal cases have been established against Portnov, which many of his won in court. Ukraine did not impose sanctions against portnov.
