In the temporarily occupied Ukrainian city of Sevastopol in Crimea, unknown assailants vandalized a monument to Russian Admiral Pavel Nakhimov. It was found out on Friday, July 22.

The first to report the incident on social networks was the “Director of the Department of Municipal Economy” of Sevastopol Evgeny Gorlov.

“The monument to Admiral Nakhimov was destroyed by vandals tonight!” he wrote and published the picture.

The local publication ForPost clarified that unknown persons sawed two links of the chain of one of the four anchors that decorate the foot of the monument to Admiral Nakhimov in the central square of Sevastopol.

“Who did it right under the windows of the city” government “, next to the checkpoint for the passage of special vehicles, where a specially trained security guard was in the booth – is still unknown ,” the message said.

So far, there are no broken chain links in the monument. As Gorlov explained, they are in storage in the “department” to restore the chain “as before” in the future.

Russian police officers worked at the scene. They interviewed eyewitnesses and took CCTV footage for study.

Earlier in Crimea, three men desecrated a Soviet monument to Sergei Kirov in Evpatoria. They tied a car tire to the bust monument and painted it with “Nazi symbols”.
