The President of Ukraine says that the draft resolution presented to the US Senate recognizing Russia’s actions in Ukraine as genocide is the result of the first lady of Ukraine’s visit to the United States and speech to Congress.
In an evening video message to the people of Ukraine on Thursday, July 21, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the first real result of the visit of the first lady of Ukraine to the United States.
“The first real result of the first lady’s visit to the United States is that the senators presented a draft resolution that recognizes Russia’s actions in Ukraine as genocide. The resolution states that Russia’s actions in Ukraine, including the forced deportation to the Russian Federation and the targeted killing of Ukrainian civilians during mass atrocities, is genocide against the people of Ukraine. Of all the terrorist attacks against Ukrainians and our state, only buried of Russia itself,” the president insisted.
It was previously reported that a bipartisan group of senior US senators presented the Upper House with a draft resolution recognizing Russia’s actions in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Recall that Zelenskaya flew to the United States on July 17. On this day, for the first time since the beginning of the mass invasion of the Russian Federation, she left Ukraine.
In her speech before the US Congress in Washington, the first lady of Ukraine asked for arms for our country. This is the first time in US history that the wife of the president of another country has addressed congressmen.
