This reduction is further explained by expirying the status of temporary protection in March.
The status of temporary protection in EU countries, on March 31, was more than 4.26 million people leaving Ukraine as a result of a full -scale raid of Russia – it was 45.4 thousand less than this in February. The said data was published by Eurostat on Monday, May 12.
Among the EU countries, the most receiving status of temporary protection from Ukraine was adopted by Germany (1,184,890 people; 27.8%of the total), Poland (997 120; 23.4%) and the Czech Republic (365 055; 8.6%).
Compared to the end of February, the total number of people with temporary protection at the end of March in the EU decreased by 45,455 (-1.1%) and cost 4,261,345. The greatest reduction was recorded in the Czech Republic (-32 695; -8.2%), Sweden (-20 505; -43.2%) and Lithuania (-4 845; -9.9%).
In Eurostat, this is explained by the fact that the validity of temporary protection status expires in March, so some recipients may temporarily exclude status updates.
At the same time, it is noted that the number of people with temporary protection status increased to 18 EU countries, and the highest growth was observed in Germany (+7 090; +0.6%), Poland (+2 330; +0.2%) and Spain (+2 275; +1.0%).
On March 31, more than 98.4% of EU’s temporary protection recipients were citizens of Ukraine. Almost half of the recipients are adult women (44.7%), children – about a third (31.7%), adults – 23.6%.
Remember that most Ukrainians who now live in Poland do not plan to stay there forever. Those who want to stay in a neighboring country for a long time – only 14%.
