Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Russia’s aggressive war and overthrow America became a fracture of the weather that marked the end of the long 20th century.
Federal German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Russia shared a “historic lie” when he called the war against Ukraine “a continuation of the struggle against fascism”. He said this in his speech at Bundestag on Thursday, May 8, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the day of victory in Nazism, Tagesspiegel reports.
“Putin’s aggressive war, his campaign against a free, democratic country has nothing to do with the struggle against Nazi Tyranny in World War II,” Steinmeier emphasized.
At the same time, he strictly criticized the current US administration’s policy on the Ukraine war issue.
“This is no more than a double labor period – the aggressive war of Russia and the destruction of American values - it marked the end of the long -20th century,” Steinmeier said.
“But the fact that the United States, which has maintained this condemnation largely, now turning away from it is the shock of a new measurement,” he added.
Earlier, Steinmeier expressed the belief that Germany should be the basis of NATO in Europe and the largest supporter of Ukraine.
