I, Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States of America, on the basis of the powers granted to me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, will announce the day of victories in the Second World War on May 8, the proclamation says.
On the eve of the anniversary, Trump said that the states would be honored by anyone who fought against Nazism during the Second World War. He also called on the memory of the dead and mentioned the heroism of the US soldiers.
The document states that in the Second World War the United States lost more than 250,000 citizens who died during this armed conflict.
