The new German Chancellor Friedrich Merze promised to visit Ukraine.
The recently elected German chancellor said during his visit to Paris that his visit to Ukraine would be “soon”. The trip has already been agreed, but its exact conditions are not yet available. This was declared by Merts himself, reports Tagesschau.
The head of the German government noted that he wants to “make a possible contribution with the European Union in order to make a steady ceasefire next week, and then a peace agreement with Russia can be concluded.”
Mertz also noted that now the main question is whether the Russian country is ready for the 30-day truce. He insists that the United States of America is involved in efforts to achieve a strong world for Ukraine. The Chancellor expects the Americans to continue to make an effort for a truce between Ukraine and Russia.
The German Chancellor and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed that the European Union countries should invest more in defense.
Recall that on May 6, Bundestag for the first time in the history of Germany, on the second attempt, chose the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merets Chancellor of Germany. He received 325 votes from a minimum required 316.
