The number of detainees in an attempt to illegally cross the US border in March was reduced to the lowest level throughout the time of observation.

“The US Armed Forces reported the formation of the Texas zone of the National Defense, covering 63 miles (approximately 101 km) along the border. The zone reaches east of the boundaries of the states of Texas and New Mexico near the city of El Paso,” the agency said.
The new zone was created so that the Trump administration would attract the military to prevent illegal migrants without defining the law “in the uprising” of 1807, allowing the president to attract armed forces to respond to internal disturbances.
“Currently, approximately 11,900 military is located on the Mexican border,” Reuters said.
In the case of preventing illegal immigrants, the military will transfer them to guards on the border or representative of other civil law enforcement agencies.
Earlier, in April 2025, the Trump administration announced the creation of a national defense zone with the establishment of New Mexico. It covers a strip of 60 feet wide (18 meters) and a length of 170 miles (about 270 km).
