More than 39,000 people have already been evacuated for preventive purposes after two fires broke out south of Bordeaux on Tuesday last week, burning at least 19,300 hectares of pine forest.
The prefecture (government delegation) explained in a statement that up to 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT), 6,500 hectares were burned in the fire that started in the coastal town of La Teste-de-Buch, and in Landiras – 12800 hectares.
About 2,000 people were evacuated from the city this afternoon. Saint Symphorianincluding 80 elderly people from the place of residence, the prefecture said.
