Russia, in the framework of new agreements, discussed Iran’s supply of 55 billion cubic gas meters per year and pledged to finance the construction of a new nuclear power plant in the country.
Iran and Russia have reached an initial agreement with the annual supplies of 55 billion cubic gas of Russia, as well as funding the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Iran. Reuters reported this Friday, April 25th.
The agreements were agreed against the back of the US attempt to exclude Iran if he did not agree with a new nuclear agreement.
Russia deepened cooperation in Iran after the outbreak of a full -scale war against Ukraine. In January, the countries signed a strategic partnership agreement. Both powers are under western penalties, and Russia’s energy exports to Europe have significantly reduced.
There is a long history of cooperation between Moscow and Tehran: it is Russia who built the first nuclear reactor in the city of Busher’s Iran.
Currently, the parties have agreed to move 55 billion cubic gases each year and the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Iran in the Russian Federation.
Despite the second largest gas reserve in the world after Russia, Iran is importing gasoline, including from Turkmenistan, due to chronic underfunding of the energy sector caused by US sanctions.
It was noted that in 2025, Russia could deliver 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas, even if the price has not been agreed. Whereas the expressed volume of gas supply – 55 billion cubic meters – corresponds to the throughput of the destroyed gas pipeline Northern Stream-1stopped working after the explosion in 2022.
Also, the Minister of Oil Mokhsen Paknezhad announced that Iran will sign an agreement with Russian companies of $ 4 billion for the development of seven fields of oil.
In general, Iran plans to implement the creation of a regional gas hub with the Russian Federation, which can support Qatar and Turkmenistan.
Remember that Russia and Iran have concluded a new bilateral cooperation agreement, called an agreement with a comprehensive strategic collaboration. The signatures under the document were made by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Iranian president Masud Chisashkin.
Earlier, the media reported that Iran had refused to identify Russian Crimea, as well as other occupied Ukraine territories in a new cooperation agreement.
