The war between Russia and Ukraine continues. In the Donbas, now Moscow will not give priority to the capture of Slavyansk, but will focus on the capture of Seversk and Bakhmut.

This is stated in the summary of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
ISW mentions the meeting of the Russian war criminal – Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov on July 18. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that Shoigu had inspected the Eastern Group and instructed Muradov to prioritize the destruction of Ukrainian long-range missiles and artillery systems. The Muradov troops are operating in the Izyum-Slavyansk direction, allegedly with the aim of finally capturing Slavyansk itself, and it is noteworthy that Shoigu did not instruct Muradov to give priority to the seizure of territory in this direction.
The Eastern Group of Forces probably consists of units of the Eastern Military District of Russia operating in the Izyum direction in the Kharkov region.
The Kremlin is likely to direct military resources and senior leadership to local successes around Seversk and Bakhmut, despite Shoigu’s earlier calls for an intensification of offensive operations across all offensive lines.
ISW writes that it is still unclear whether Muradov directly controls operations around Kharkov. Russian forces have already launched a series of ground attacks east of Seversk and south of Bakhmut and have stepped up their offensive against Avdiivka and made limited ground assaults on the Donetsk-Avdiivka front line.
