Gerhard Schreder will no longer be destined to prove that he was illegally deprived of the office in the Bundestag.
The former chancellor, who is accused of cooperation with Russia, won three times in their claims in losing their position in the German parliament. Schroeder decided not to file a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court. The politician’s lawyer Michael Nagel said that the 81-year-old man will no longer fight because of his “health”.
In May 2022, the Bundestag Budget Committee suspended the work of Schreder’s office. Probably because the former federal chancellor maintains close ties with the Kremlin and is considered a friend of President Putin. Moreover, Schroeder continued to work in Russian energy companies even after the beginning of a complete invasion of Russia.
However, the deputies officially approved Schroeder from the fact that the SDPN politician no longer fulfills “some of the permanent obligations arising from his position.” Before that, the former chancellor was able to use seven Bundestag rooms and had five employees who were paid from the German budget. Schroeder filed a lawsuit from the decision of the parliamentary coalition, but lost twice in Berlin courts, and then in the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig. In such a trial, only the Federal Constitutional Court can make a decision, explained in the latter case.
Schroeder’s connections with the Russian politician were described in detail by German journalists in the Nortustry book: how Germany financed Putin’s war. Investigators recalled that after the Orange Revolution in 2005, the construction of the Russian gas pipeline, which is courting Ukraine, began. And the German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder actually became the lobby of this project in Europe. He gladly invited Putin to perform in the German parliament, initiated the “Year of Russia in Germany”, was sown with the head of the Kremlin in the sauna and called him “the ideal democrat”. Schroeder supported the North Stream project, and after the resignation in November 2005 he became chairman of the supervisory board of the company operator of the Nord Stream AG project with an annual salary of 250 thousand euros.
Interestingly, in 2004, the couple Schroeder adhered to a three-year-old girl from St. Petersburg, and in 2006, a Russian boy. Subsequently, the couple broke up.
It is known that at the end of this year, Schroeder canceled the meeting in the parliament of the Earth Schverin and went to the clinic from the exhaustion. Now Excasszler seems better.
By the way, the successor of the Schroeder g -Jeles Merkel still has an office in the Bundestag.
