Bulgaria decided not to sell reactors for the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
Atanas Zafirov, Viceremier, explained the decision by the fact that Bulgaria should develop nuclear energy, especially taking into account the growth of electricity prices in the world, Bulgarian Forbes reports.
On March 13, Volodymyr Zelenskyy President signed a law that allows you to buy reactors in Bulgaria for the construction of a Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant.
Zafirov said that the government’s decisions were supported by all government partners, including the leader of the Certificate party (“Citizens of European Development of Bulgaria”) and former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
NPP “Belen” is an unfinished nuclear power plant located 3 km from the city of Belen on the banks of the Dunai River in the north of Bulgaria, near the border with Romania. The station was intended to replace the bandwidth of the goat, which are disabled. The construction of the station was stopped in 1990 from the difficulties in financing and protests.
