The only way to force Russia to conduct serious negotiations is to strengthen the pressure on it, the Supreme Eu spokesman is sure for foreign activities.
The European Union is working on a new, 17 -17 pack of sanctions against Russia, and it can be considered foreign ministers in May. This was announced by the Supreme EU for foreign activities of Kai Callas following an EU council meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, April 14th.
According to him, the package will include restrictions against the shadow of the Russian Federation’s armada and other pressure tools.
“Obviously now we are working on the 17th package, there is also a shadow fleet and a variety of elements to gather them together for the Foreign Affairs council in May,” Kallas said.
He emphasized that the EU countries remain equal to the support of Ukraine and the desire for the world, while it is Russia intentionally delaying the war.
“We see that Russia only wants wars. It has been confirmed by a recent deadly blow to Sumy,” Callas said.
The Supreme Representative emphasized that the path to serious negotiations in Moscow lies only by strengthening the penalty pressure.
Separately, ministers discussed military support for Ukraine. Kallas recalled that the EU was a major partner for the Ukrainian defense industry and conducted a huge -scale training of the armed forces. According to him, two -thirds of the plan for a supply of 2 million ammunition have been fulfilled, but that is not enough.
“We should go ahead. Ukraine needs more ammunition and air defense systems – and soon,” he completed.
Callas also confirmed that the EU did not recommend candidate countries to participate in events on May 9 in Russia.
Remember that in March, foreign ministers of the leading European countries discussed the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Russia and strengthened Ukraine’s support.
EU will develop 17 packages of penalties and will open against alleviating restrictions
