The fourth round of voting removed “outsiders” and left only three candidates for the seat of head of the British government.
The battle for the seat of British Prime Minister between the three opponents will now continue. This is evidenced by the results of the fourth round of voting for the future leader of the Conservative Party of Great Britain, which will also lead the British government, European Pravda reports on Tuesday, July 19.
The next round of elections is:
-
former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak – 118, from 115;
-
junior trade policy minister Penny Mordaunt – 92 votes, out of 82;
-
Foreign secretary Liz Truss – 86, is 71.
Former Equality and Local Government Minister Kemi Badenoch won the fewest votes with 59 and dropped out of the race.
Recall, on July 7, Boris Johnson announced that he would step down from the posts of British Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Conservative Party amid a series of scandals.
Earlier it was reported that in the UK, the former head of the Treasury Department, Rishi Sunak, had become a favorite in the election race in the first round of elections for the new Conservative Party leader and prime minister.
