The second cycle of consultations between Russia and the United States in the activities of diplomatic missions will be held “in the coming days” in Istanbul, Russian Foreign Ministry’s press secretary Maria Zakharova said. This was known by Russian media on Tuesday, April 8.
According to him, “the place, the format of the negotiations and the composition of the participants remains unchanged – consultations will be held in Istanbul.”
Zakharova noted that the Russian delegation, as usual, was led by Alexander Drachev, who is now officially held by the Russian ambassador’s post in the United States. The American delegation is chaired by the Deputy Secretary of the State Sonata Coulter. Other participants are also representative of foreign policy departments of both countries.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has added that during consultations there will be “great work to eliminate many technical barriers” that complicated the activities of diplomats of both countries. According to him, such work should be carried out on a ongoing basis.
The first cycle of consultations on the diplomatic mission work occurred in Istanbul in late February.
