The backlash for pressure on the European Union from the Russian side is diminishing, Herman Galushchenko stressed.
Russia is using natural gas supplies to put pressure on Europe. But the storage was about to fill up, so the Russians just needed to burn their gas. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko in an interview for Interfax-Ukraine, published on Tuesday, July 19.

According to the minister, Canada and Germany are now setting a dangerous precedent by providing the turbine to Gazprom.
“For the Russians, the very fact that they hit the two G7 countries is important. Because tomorrow they will ask for more, and tomorrow they will say: let’s turn on Nord Stream 2,” Galushchenko said.
He stressed that this turbine has nothing to do with the volume of supply, because until recently three turbines were working, and it did not interfere with gas pumping.
Galushchenko recalled that when some companies succumbed to Gazprom’s pamba-blackmail and began paying in rubles, it did not guarantee them delivery.
“If they really decide to stop delivering to Europe, they’re going to have anything – an explosion, a new fix,” he said.
But, according to the minister, Europe must understand that the backlash for putting pressure on the EU on the Russians is waning.
“How long before they finish filling their storage facilities of 76 billion cubic meters, and the question, where to put the gas? They have to supply it where, or just disappear. I won’t be surprised. If it just burns it down. of the Russians, although it would be too much for them, ”the head of the Ministry of Energy summarized.
Remember that by the end of 2022, Russia’s share of gas in Europe could be the lowest in 20 years. Russia can only meet EU gas needs by 20%, experts say.
It was also reported that Gazprom reduced exports by almost a third. In five and a half months, Russia has exported less than 65 billion cubic meters of gas.
