A peace agreement and a long -term prospect are “two different things,” says the General Secretary of the Alliance.
The NATO general secretary has justified the statements of American Administration Donald Trump regarding Ukraine’s entry into NATO. This is proven by his interview with the Ukrainian NV publication.
The secretary’s general is reminded that at the Washington Summit said that Ukraine’s path to NATO is irreversible, but Trump says Ukraine will never be a member of the alliance.
As such, the NATO secretary said that the Washington Summit had a clear result, “However, Ukraine has yet to promise that NATO membership will be part of a peace agreement or ceasefire.”
“And sometimes I hear that Americans say: We don’t think NATO membership will be part of a stop -stop or a peace agreement, which contradicts the words of the Washington Summit,” Rutte said.
According to him, he does not agree with this statement, because he believes that “it is very good in accordance with the formulations of the Washington Summit.”
“These are two separate things: a peace agreement and a long -term prospect,” the officer believed.
He was also asked if he believed that Ukrainian membership in NATO was possible under Trump’s presidency, Rutte replied: “Don’t interpret what he said.”
“We have a word at Washington Summit about the long term. And when it exactly happens, we don’t know. There’s an irreparable path to NATO,” he completed.
In the past, Rutte said the lack of US defense secretary, Pete Hagget at the next meeting in Ramstein format, does not mean that Americans will stop helping Ukraine.
Remember that the media reported that the US representative would not come to Ramstein for the first time. We’re talking about US Defense Minister Pete Hagget.
