UEFA Congress in Belgrade honored memories of Russian football players, coaches and judges who died in 2024. Among them was a former Russian national team football player Alex Bugaev.
He completed his football career in 2010. In September 2024, Bugaev was sentenced to 9 years in colonies for trying to sell drugs, and at the end of December it became known that he died at the front.

The 49th UEFA Congress took place in Belgrade: the UAF Executive Committee and Appeal of the N up the Returning Representatives of the Russian Federation for International Competitions
During the event, new members of the executive committee were elected – eight representatives received a mandate for four years and two more in two years.
In addition, the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association made an official letter for representatives of all European football national associations and UEFA.
In it, UAF emphasizes the inadmissibility and inappropriateness of discussion and consideration of partial abolition of restrictions on the Russian Federation in the face of constant aggression against Ukraine.
