Washington has called on European allies to continue the purchase of American weapons against the rear of the EU initiatives to strengthen their own defense industry.

According to the agency, Washington recently called Europe’s allies to continue the purchase of American weapons against the rear of the EU initiatives to strengthen their own defense industry.

On March 25, United States Secretary Marco Rubio, at a meeting with foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, emphasized that Washington negatively sees restrictions on accessing American companies in obtaining European defense. He plans to raise this issue at a meeting of foreign ministry leaders this Sunday in Brussels.

Representatives of the State Department said that the Trump administration supported the strengthening of European defense capabilities, but warned against obstacles that could limit American manufacturers’ participation in EU projects.

In March, the European Commission introduced the Rearm Europe Initiative, which involved the involvement of 150 billion euros in EU defense projects. Although the European Commission ensures that companies can participate in tenders from Bloc, in practice they may encounter bureaucrat difficulties.

In Washington, they are concerned about such changes, as they contradict the Trump administration’s desire to expand markets for American weapons producers.
