Since 1985, a free trade agreement has operated between the United States and Israel, which binds nearly 99% of all that are imported American goods from paying duties.
Israel decided to cancel all the duties imposed during the importation of American goods. It was on Tuesday, April 1, said in a statement by the office of the prime minister of Israel.
“Israel has canceled all customs duties that are still charged from goods from the United States – Israeli’s largest trading partner,” the report said.
It is noted that since 1985, a free trade agreement has operated between the United States and Israel, which binds nearly 99% of all that are imported American goods from paying duties.
“Thus, a reduction in duties will affect a limited list of goods in the category of imports of food and agriculture from the United States,” the prime minister said.
The department announced hope that the complete removal of the duties “will strengthen the strategic relations between the countries.”
“It will also bring potential benefits to Israeli consumers in the form of a possible decrease in the cost of life due to the expected increase in imports of food and agriculture goods from the United States, where zero duties will be charged,” the prime minister has accumulated.
The European Union may limit the access of American goods and companies to its market in response to the duties introduced. Brussels considers strict steps, including banning the participation of American companies with tenders and expected EU projects.
When found out, Trump signed a command to introduce 25% duties for cars that had gathered outside the United States. The duties will enter on April 2.
