Technology giant Intel canceled all corporate services in Russia during the war in Ukraine.
Nearly a month after Intel suspended deliveries to customers in Russia and Belarus, the company announced that it had ceased all commercial operations in the country.
“Intel continues to join the global community in condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine and calling for a speedy return to peace,” Intel said in a statement Tuesday. “Immediately, we stopped all commercial operations in Russia. This follows our previous decision to suspend all delivery to customers in Russia and Belarus.
An Intel spokesperson confirmed to HuffPost that operations will be suspended indefinitely.
Intel said it will continue to “support all our employees in this difficult situation, including 1,200 employees in Russia” and “implement business continuity measures to reduce delays in our global operations.”
Several other technology companies, including IBM, Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard, have also suspended services to Russia as President Vladimir Putin continues to attack Ukraine. Their decisions are part of the broader discourse of companies In all industries – including American Express, the Walt Disney Company and Nestlé, the world’s largest food company.
Putin used aggressive and deadly tactics, such as bombing cities and kidnapping civilians, in an attempt to overtake Ukraine. More than 1,400 civilians have been killed since the war began in February. According to the UN.
