The European Union provides 10 million euros for Ukrainian independent media

Since February 2022, the EU has provided 37 million euros for independent media in Ukraine, and since 2017 – more than 100 million euros.

The EU will allocate 10 million euros for Ukrainian independent media. This was announced by the EU ambassador to Ukraine Katerina Mathenova while talking to journalists, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that the discussion of the seven million euros is happening today in the near future, where two million will go to the activities of “Indefinition”, in particular, supporting little media and support for producers for journalists under the threat.

Three million will be sent to Internets for the media development fund for a subgrant, and one million for the Media Institute for Mass Media for small and medium media, as well as for many other smaller projects.

In May, the EU plans to announce a competition for three million euros specifically for regional media and independent journalists.

According to Mathenova, since February 2022, the EU has provided 37 million euros for independent media in Ukraine, and since 2017 – more than 100 million euros.

Keep in mind that within two years and nine months of the beginning of a full aggression, Russia has committed 762 crimes against journalists and media in Ukraine.

It has also been reported that from the beginning of a full -scale war in Ukraine, 132 artists and 93 media people have been killed from the Russian invasion.
