You can first agree with 5 billion euros for bullets for Ukraine as part of a broader initiative for up to 40 billion euros, Kaya Callas believes.

European Union authorities are working on a “realistic” plan for 5 billion euros for ammunition for Ukraine. This is said by the EU’s high representative in the foreign policy and security of Kai Callas in Brussels before the European Council meeting on Thursday, March 20.

He was asked about the fate of a large military assistance package for Ukraine for up to 40 billion euros this year, who has not received the support of all EU members.

“It’s important to have tangible results. If we can’t decide now for next year, we will decide on the short -term perspective, which is the urgent need of Ukraine for bullets today,” Kallas said.

In his opinion, “a realistic plan will be 5 billion euros for bullets, and this is what we really do today.”

At the same time, Callas emphasized that “if you listen to leaders’ statements, then support is very good.”

“And therefore it also needs to be seen in business, in numbers, in the real ammunition that Ukraine needs. Therefore, I hope we will advance it in advance,” he added.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Italy and Spain were “clear” that they were not willing to support the European Union’s proposal to allocate up to 40 billion euros for military aid in Ukraine this year.
