Canada aims to join the EU Defense Initiative

Canada is talking to the European Union about participating in the new military-industrial project, which will open new markets for it and strengthen cooperation against the rear of cooling relations in the United States. On Wednesday, March 19, the New York Times wrote, citing resources.

According to them, detailed negotiations were carried out to include Canada in the new European Union defense initiative. The goal is to raise the EU defense industry, which will be a “reliable alternative to the United States” that dominates the weapon -making market.

In particular, according to interlocutors, Canada could be part of the European Register of Military Production, which sells industrial capabilities to create European systems, such as the Saab GriPen Reactive Aircraft, an opponent in the American F-35, who produces Lockheed Martin.

Canada began approaching Europe after Donald Trump’s election of the President of the United States. As noted in the NYT material, cooperation in the military industry along with the European Union suggests that traditional Washington’s traditional allies deepen their connections without its participation.

“This is done to reduce hope in the United States and protect yourself from Trump’s unpredictable decisions, which can affect the global delivery of safety and defense,” the publication said.
