US president Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin talked on the phone for more than two hours.
NATO secretary Mark Rutte said he believes in the ability of US President Donald Trump to reach a lasting peace agreement in Ukraine. He said this on Tuesday, March 18 in an interview with the American Television Channel CNN.
He added that he was considered “good” that representatives of Ukraine and the United States agreed with a proposal to stop being in Saudi Arabia last week.
Rutte also said she does not believe that Trump is too trusting in the ruler of Russia Vladimir Putin.
“Trump knows that Vladimir Putin is very good from his first term of presidency. Therefore, he knows how he can make sure he can end an agreement. I strongly believe in it,” Rutte said.
According to the outcomes of the negotiations, Putin is known to have rejected Trump’s proposal about unconditional stopping. The Russian dictator has agreed to stop attacking energy infrastructure facilities.
Putin told Trump that the “basic condition for preventing the rise” of the war should be “the complete cessation of foreign military assistance and the provision of intelligence information to Kyiv.”
