The German parliament voted for billions of investment in defense and infrastructure.
On Tuesday, March 18, Bundestag approved a financial package, which provides for multi -billion dollar investments in the country’s defense and infrastructure. This document provides that the cost of protection, intelligence and cybersecurity will be released from the debt rule if they exceed 1% of GDP.
As part of this item, you can open 3 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine. It also provides for the creation of a special fund for 500 billion euros for additional investments in the infrastructure of Germany.
Earlier, German law consolidated the so -called duty – a mechanism in which the government should spend the budget of money economically and can spend as much as to earn. However, by his decision, Bundestag allowed to weaken the “brake” for defense costs and for the needs of federal lands.
Recall that the European Union can create a voluntary fund for military assistance to Ukraine. The Blok countries “are recommended to provide military support in Ukraine in 2025 in the amount of at least 20 billion euros and potentially bring it to 40 billion euros, depending on the needs of Ukraine.”
